In a shocking development, Hadi Sirika, the former Minister of Aviation during President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, has been apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The arrest comes amidst grave allegations of a colossal scam amounting to N139.3 billion against Nigeria.
The debacle surrounding Nigeria Air’s supposed launch in May, which occurred towards the end of Buhari’s tenure, had drawn widespread criticism as suspicions of a scam took center stage.
Many were left questioning the integrity of the entire affair.
As events unfolded, Hadi Sirika appeared at the DSS headquarters in Abuja for intense questioning, arriving in a sleek Range Rover SUV.
The DSS officials conducted a lengthy grilling session to get to the bottom of the matter.
Adding to the intrigue, Captain Dapo Olumide, the acting managing director of Nigeria Air, made a startling revelation before the Senate Committee on Aviation.
He disclosed that the plane presented as Nigeria Air during the May launch was, in fact, a chartered aircraft from Ethiopian Airlines.
It was unveiled as a symbolic gesture, but disappointingly, it was not operational.
The situation remains fluid, and the country watches with bated breath as the authorities delve deeper into this alarming case.
