In an eventful day at the Senate, the screening process of three ministerial nominees was halted due to allegations of age forgery and age falsification.

Among the 14 nominees scheduled for screening, seven were granted the privilege to “take a bow and go,” including Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, and other distinguished individuals.

However, the screening of three nominees faced suspension pending clarification of certain issues.

Professor Joseph Utsev, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Wannune, from Benue State, raised eyebrows with his resume, indicating he finished his primary education at the age of nine, sparking concerns about age accuracy.

The two other nominees whose screening was put on hold are Senator Abubakar Sani Danladi from Taraba State, who allegedly faced a ten-year ban from holding public office by the Supreme Court, and Bello Mohammed from Sokoto State, whose secondary school leaving certificate raised questions.

Despite the interruptions, the screening process lasted from 1:32 pm to 6:00 pm, with notable individuals like Nyesom Wike assuring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he would be a valuable asset as a minister.

Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, assured that cases needing clarification would be addressed during the confirmation stage, as the Senate navigates through the screening process with thorough scrutiny.
