Some governors elected on the All Progressives Congress platform are currently meeting with Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike in preparation for the 2023 election.

Kayode Fayemi, Rotimi Akeredolu, and Babajide Sanwo-Olu are the governors of Ekiti, Ondo, and Lagos, respectively.

Others in their entourage include Ekiti State Governor-elect Biodun Oyebanji, as well as former Ekiti State governor and Peoples Democratic Party chieftain Ayodele Fayose.

Wike, who lost the PDP presidential nomination to Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, is said to be meeting with APC leaders and others at his country home in the Port Harcourt area of the state.

The purpose of the APC governors’ visit and subsequent meeting with their host is unknown at the time of this report.

However, it appears that the APC governors may want to capitalize on Wike’s recent spat with PDP leadership following the main opposition party’s presidential primary to woo the Rivers governor to their side ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
