Botswana has officially broken ground on a state-of-the-art forensic laboratory aimed at combating wildlife crime and poaching.

The laboratory, funded by the government and international partners, will provide critical evidence analysis and DNA testing to aid in the prosecution of wildlife criminals.

“This laboratory is a game-changer in our fight against poaching and wildlife trafficking,” said Botswana’s President, Mokgweetsi Masisi.

“We are committed to protecting our precious wildlife and natural resources.”

The laboratory is expected to be fully operational by 2025 and will serve as a regional hub for wildlife forensic analysis.
