BREAKING: APC Postpones National Convention Indefinitely, Fixes Date For Zonal Congresses | NNH
The crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) took a new twist after the party suspended its February 26 national convention till further notice.
The party will instead conduct zonal congresses on March 26, 2022.
This was contained in a letter titled ‘Notice For The Conduct Of Zonal Congresses’ sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) dated Monday, February 21, 2022, by the party.
The letter which was jointly signed by the chairman of the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Governor Mai Mala Buni and secretary of the committee, Senator John Akpanudoedehe said the latest notice supersedes its earlier notice of a national convention sent to INEC.
The letter urged the electoral umpire to mobilize its officials to monitor the exercise.
The ruling party had initial announced February 26 to elect new national leaders but issues bothering on logistics, zoning and internal party crisis appeared to have truncated the exercise.
It is yet to be seen if the party will get its act together before the 2023 general elections.
