There was a fire outbreak and explosions at the Matrix Energy Limited Depot in Warri, Delta State, on Friday night.

The fire broke out with a shattering explosion that rocked Ifiekporo, Ubeji, and other nearby communities.

Although the cause of the incident has not been determined, sources indicate that the inferno may have been caused by loading activities at the tank farm.

However, firefighters are said to be battling to put out the raging fire.

In response to the incident, Dr. Michael Tidi, Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, urged residents to remain calm.

Tidi, while confirming that firefighters have been dispatched to the scene, assured that the flames are under control.

Meanwhile, as of the time of writing, the fire had not been extinguished.
