Emerging report indicates that the national executive council (NEC) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is currently in an emergency meeting over the one-month strike embarked upon by the union.

Recall that ASUU had on On February 14 embarked on the strike to press home their demands which includes better welfare and improved teaching and learning environment.

In the emergency meeting, which is in progress in Abuja, the union will take a position on whether or not to declare a full-blown strike in public universities or call off the ongoing strike.

Adamu Adamu, minister of education had last week said the federal government has inaugurated a seven-member committee to renegotiate its 2009 agreement with ASUU.

Nigerian students who are at the receiving end of ASUU’s incessant strikes will hope for a quick resolution of the industrial action so they can resume back to their classrooms and continue their academics.
