In a dramatic turn of events, former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai has launched a legal counterattack against the Kaduna State House of Assembly, challenging the damning findings of a committee probe that accused him of corruption and misappropriation of funds.
El-Rufai’s lawyer, Abdulhakeem Mustapha, filed the lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Kaduna, seeking to overturn the Assembly’s report and clear the former governor’s name.
The lawsuit claims that El-Rufai was denied a fair hearing and that the committee’s findings were baseless and politically motivated.
The Kaduna State House of Assembly, the state’s Attorney General, and Commissioner of Justice are named as respondents in the lawsuit.
The committee’s report had alleged that El-Rufai’s administration mismanaged loans and contracts, and recommended that he and his cabinet members face investigation and prosecution for corruption and money laundering.
El-Rufai’s spokesperson, Muyiwa Adekeye, has dismissed the allegations as “scandalous” and maintained that the former governor’s administration was transparent and accountable.
The legal battle has sparked intense interest in Kaduna and beyond, with many watching to see how the case will unfold. Stay with NNH for more updates!
