The Coalition for Concerned Nigerians, the group behind the #EndBadGovernance protests in Osun, has called on residents to take to the streets again in response to the increasing hardship across the country.
Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Monday, the group’s coordinator, Adetunji Ajala, expressed disappointment with the President Bola Tinubu-led administration for ignoring the concerns raised during the End Bad Governance protest last month. He criticized the government for exacerbating the economic challenges facing Nigerians rather than alleviating them.
“Despite our peaceful protests, the government has refused to address the fuel price hikes and widespread hunger affecting millions of Nigerians,” Ajala said. He accused the administration of raising fuel prices, which has caused a spike in the cost of basic goods, housing, and services, all while the new minimum wage remains unimplemented in many states.
Ajala urged residents to join the upcoming protest, dubbing it a “National Day of Survival” rather than a celebration of Independence Day. “We need to make our voices louder and show that there’s nothing to celebrate when so many are struggling to survive,” he added.
