Ike Ekweremadu, a former Deputy Senate President has declared his intention to contest for the 2023 governorship election in Enugu State.
He made the disclosure during a press conference in Enugu on Friday.
Senator Ekweremadu said the position of the governor would provide him with the platform to serve the people of the state, assuring that he would “utilise all the experience, friendship, partnership and global contact acquired over the years to transform Enugu State into a model state” if elected.
The senator vowed to “restore the faith of the masses on governance” through delivering on his campaign promises. He said his administration would fight corruption and enthrone justice and equity for the people of the state.
Nigeria News Now (NNH) reports that Ekweremadu was first elected into the senate in 2003. He served as Deputy Senate President between 2007 to 2019.
