Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has provided clarification regarding the number of schoolchildren abducted from Kuriga in the Chikun Local Government Area, stating that 137 children were abducted, not 287 as initially reported.

In an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Governor Sani confirmed the rescue of all the abducted schoolchildren by the military in collaboration with local authorities from neighbouring Zamfara State.

The abduction occurred approximately four weeks ago at LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School in Kuriga. The Defence Headquarters corroborated the rescue operation, confirming the safe return of 137 students.

Governor Sani expressed regret that a teacher abducted alongside the pupils did not survive, as he developed complications while in captivity. He extended condolences to the family of the deceased teacher and offered consolation to the families of the released schoolchildren.
