ABUJA: On Monday, Shaibu Alhaji Yusuf climbed a 120-meter broadcast mast at the Abuja Broadcasting Service, the home of Aso Radio and Television, causing a significant stir. The station, owned by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), is located on Katampe Hill along the Kubwa Expressway.
Yusuf, an indigene of Borno State, refused to come down for several minutes despite the pleas of emergency responders. He cited frustration with the country’s pervasive hunger and insecurity as his motivation for the daring protest.
After a pep talk from Mrs. Florence Wenegieme, the Acting General Manager of the FCT Emergency Management Department, Yusuf finally descended. He was subsequently taken into custody by the Nigeria Police Force.
