The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a dramatic move at its 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, has expelled former Rivers State Governor and current FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, alongside former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and several others for alleged anti-party activities.

The announcement came after delegates overwhelmingly adopted a motion from the disciplinary committee, triggering one of the most consequential internal purges in PDP history.

Wike, in an immediate reaction, dismissed the decision, describing it as the product of “people drunk on excitement in Ibadan”, insisting the expulsion has “no effect” on him. Analysts expect legal and political pushback in the days ahead.

This remains a developing story.
