The Organized Labour comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC has declared a nationwide strike commencing from Monday, June 3rd, 2024.
The decision follows a series of tripartite committee meetings which ended in deadlock due to the committee’s disagreements on the new minimum wage.
Speaking at a joint Press conference in Abuja on Friday, 31st May, 2024, TUC President, Festus Osifo who announced the strike said the decision stems from organised Labour ‘s earlier request that all negotiations for a new minimum wage be concluded on or before the end of May,2024.
It would be recalled that organised labour had pulled out of talks and declined two Federal Government offers, with the latest being N60,000 against Labour’s demand of N494,000.
