PHOTOS: Protest Rocks Abuja Over Buhari’s Refusal To Sign Electoral Bill
Civil Society Organizations on Tuesday staged a protest at the Unity Fountain in Abuja over the delay by President Muhammadu Buhari to assent the Electoral Act Amendment Bill into law.
The groups led by Samson Itodo, Executive Director, YIAGA Africa delivered speeches and displayed placards with inscriptions urging the president to append his signature.
The protesters later went on procession towards the National Assembly.
Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina had in an interview on Channels Television said President Muhammadu Buhari will sign the bill in a matter of hours.
Recall that the National Assembly transmitted the amended Electoral Act bill on 31st January 2022 after amending clause 84 to include Direct Primaries, Indirect Primaries and Consensus as modes of selecting party candidates for election.
