
A military plane carrying Chilima and nine others, including a former First Lady, Shanil Dzimbiri, went off the radar on Monday morning, while the wreckage of the plane was later located with no survivors after several hours of search.
President Tinubu, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, commiserated with the families of the deceased over the incident, which he described as deeply distressing.
He extended his sincere condolences to President Lazarus Chakwera, and the people of Malawi.
The president also assured the Malawian nation of Nigeria’s support during this period of mourning and prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed.
