Commandant Michael Besong Ogar has resumed duties as the new Commandant, Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, NSCDC, following the recent promotion to the rank of Assistant Commandant General and redeployment of ACG Abu Abdu Tambuwal.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Rivers State Command has a new State Commandant, while addressing the Senior Management Staff Officers, Divisional Officers, and other ranks on his first day in office, Commandant Michael Besong Ogar said there is much to do in the fight against terrorism. This was stated in a press release e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP, by the command’s spokesperson, DSC Olufemi Ayodele
“Let me first express my gratitude to the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni, for entrusting me with such a monumental task; the NSCDC is dedicated to protecting all vital national infrastructure and assets as well as citizen lives and property. Without a doubt, we will complete our work impartially. There is a new sheriff in town, and anyone breaking the law or running an illegal refinery is advised to leave because Rivers State is no longer willing to put up with them.
In order to combat the threat of national insecurity, Commandant Ogar further argued that cooperation between security agencies and all stakeholders is necessary. The public must work with the Corps by providing reliable intelligence and information that would help the Command halt all activities leading to environmental degradation and economic sabotage throughout the region, he said, noting that intelligence is the cornerstone of security.
The Order However, Helmsman issued a strong warning against violating citizens’ fundamental human rights, warning that the officers and men of the Command, as a security agency with a legal mandate, must display a high level of professionalism and respect for human dignity because his administration will not tolerate even the slightest act of brutality against civilians or an accidentally discharged weapon.
We will go after those endangering the health of the populace through illegal bunkering activities because they constitute sabotage to the nation’s economy, and in due course there would be sanctity in Rivers State, said Ogar. “It is expedient for me to reiterate that accidental discharge is not in the NSCDC manual therefore all personnel bearing arms must exercise necessary caution while discharging their duties.”
