The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four serving personnel of the Nigerian Army with nine others for hijacking and diverting trailer-loads of goods in the state.

The command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement in Port Harcourt on Monday, also confirmed the arrest of an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and eight other civilians who are members of a 13-man syndicate that specialises in hijacking and diversion of trailer-loads of goods.

She noted that three of the soldiers have been dismissed by the Nigerian Army after being handed over by the police.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, has thanked the Nigerian Military for the swift and decisive cooperation, while commending their prompt actions in addressing the affected officers’ misconduct and subsequent handover to the police for prosecution.

Disu, who said the collaborative effort highlights a strong commitment to upholding justice and maintaining public trust in law enforcement institutions, commended the officers involved in the arrest and urged them to remain vigilant.
