Three people were killed on Monday, including the 19-year-old suspect who opened fire at a high school in St Louis, Missouri.

Seven other people were killed in the shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School around 9:00 a.m., according to the BBC.

The school’s doors were locked, and it’s unclear how the suspect, Orlando Harris, entered the building.

Harris was killed when his gun jammed in the middle of an attack while he was engaged in a gunfight with the police.

Witnesses told authorities that his motive for the attack on the 400-student school was unclear.

According to police, a teenage girl died inside the school and one woman died in the hospital.

According to local media, the seven injured – three girls and four boys – all suffered non-life threatening injuries.

According to the city’s police commissioner, Michael Sack, students were running out of the school when officers arrived and said the attacker had a “long gun.”

He claimed that seven security guards on site acted quickly to notify other employees and contact the police.

The gunman was discovered with hundreds of bullets, which were sorted into nearly a dozen high-capacity magazines, but Sack later added: “This could have been much worse.”
