The Minister of Transportation, Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, who supervised the inaugural train service at the Dala Inland Dry Port, said the project will facilitate import and export processes for easier businesses in the region, particularly in Northern Nigeria.

Alkali reaffirmed government’s commitment to developing a modern, safe, secure and sustainable transportation network.

In his remarks at the event, the Managing Director of the Dala Inland Dry Port, Ahmad Rabiu, said the train service would position Kano as a critical hub for cargo processing and export.

For his part, Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, who was represented by his Deputy, Aminu Abdussalam, commended the federal government for the initiative, which he said, would significantly improve transportation challenges in the region, particularly the hazards associated with road transportation of goods.
