Chukwujekwu Uzozie, a merchant and farmer from Ukpor in Anambra’s Nnewi South Local Government Area (LGA), has been kidnapped by unknown people.

The perpetrators who invaded Uzozie’s home in Umudiji Umuohama village, Ukpor, on Saturday morning and fired into the air multiple times before forcing their way into his compound were claimed to have shot his only son.

According to a family source who requested anonymity, Uzozie was transported to an unknown location and no contact has been made, while the son who was severely injured was transferred to a hospital for medical care.

According to the source, Uzozie worked as a Special Adviser to a former chairman of the Nnewi South Local Government Council.

According to the source, members of Uzozie’s church, St Andrew’s Church Umuoham, have organized special prayers for his release and the rapid recovery of his only son.

DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, has confirmed the incident, saying a manhunt had been launched for the abductors.
