The Bauchi Police Command has apprehended five suspected internet fraudsters who were undergoing training in the state.
SP Ahmed Wakil, the Command’s spokesman, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Saturday in Bauchi.
According to him, commandos acting on credible intelligence raided a hideout in Bauchi metropolis where suspected cyber criminals were being trained.
The Operatives of the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB), Bauchi Command acted on a verified intelligence on 20th May 2022, burst into an apartment located at Kirfi Road, GRA, Bauchi.
“Where a training center was established for the training of youths who want to venture into internet crime,” he said.
Emmanuel Saleh alias Wizblaq, 22; Matthias Akronyi alias Mad Kid, 20, Patience Nuhu, 21, Bulus Haruna, 18, and Kingsley Simon, 19, were among the suspects named by him.
According to Wakil, the police discovered four laptops, one television set, four sound systems, one power generator, seven plastic chairs, one office chair, a musical keyboard, and a refrigerator.
He stated that the Commissioner of Police, Umar Sanda, has ordered that the suspects be charged in court as soon as the investigations are completed.
The CP, according to the spokesman, advised people to be cautious about the type of information they shared online in order to help the police rid the state of cybercrime.
