Parents of the youths abducted on Zamfara Highway in August 2023, en route to the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sokoto, have once again implored the Federal and Akwa Ibom state governments for assistance. Expressing their frustration during a meeting in Uyo, the parents voiced their lack of confidence in security agencies and highlighted the grim situation of their children being held captive in Zamfara forest for three months.

Solomon Emmanuel, one of the parents, criticized the perceived lack of tangible results from government efforts, citing the inability to meet the exorbitant N70 million ransom demanded by the kidnappers. He emphasized the urgency for the government to demonstrate effective action in rescuing their children.

Mrs. Idongesit, another distressed parent, shared the heart-wrenching experience of not being able to communicate with her daughter since the incident. She blamed the AKTC for disregarding safety warnings and pleaded with authorities to intervene before the kidnappers carry out their threats.

Despite financial struggles and pleas to government officials, the parents remain in a state of desperation, fearing for the lives of their children. Some families are reportedly in shock over the deteriorating health conditions of the kidnapped youths still in captivity. The situation underscores the need for swift and decisive action to secure the release of these abducted individuals.
