The Labour Party criticizes President Bola Tinubu’s New Year broadcast, labeling it as “appalling and hollow.” The National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, expressed disappointment in the speech delivered in Abuja, dismissing the president’s claims that decisions taken were in the nation’s best interest.

Ifoh highlighted the absence of condolences for the Christmas Eve massacre victims in Plateau State and criticized Tinubu’s handling of critical issues such as insecurity, infrastructure decay, and economic challenges. The party called out the president’s alleged false claims, particularly regarding fuel subsidy removal, foreign reserve expenditure, and the erosion of democratic institutions.

Amid urging prayers for the nation, the Labour Party emphasizes the need for the National Assembly to uphold the constitution beyond party lines.
