Amid rising tensions, mourners gathered in Tehran for the funerals of Revolutionary Guards killed in Syria, reportedly due to an Israeli strike.
The attack in Damascus took the lives of five members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including the group’s intelligence chief for Syria.
The funeral proceedings included emotional scenes with coffins draped in the Iranian flag. The strike further escalates regional tensions during the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
Israel’s military has refrained from commenting on the reports. The strike followed an earlier IRGC attack on an alleged Israeli “intelligence headquarters” in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.
