President Bola Tinubu has ordered the indefinite suspension of Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Managing Director/CEO Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad and three Executive Directors, following a comprehensive investigation into financial activities revealing fraudulent misexpenditure exceeding N1.2 billion in the past two years. The suspended officials include Olaniyi Alaba Netufo, Barka Sajou, and Sa’adatu Balgore. An extended probe has been initiated, and anti-graft agencies have already recovered part of the misappropriated funds. Abba Abubakar Aliyu has been appointed as the acting Managing Director/CEO, with additional appointments to the new management team of REA.
