In a tragic incident, a 40-year-old fisherman in Queensland is believed to have been killed by a crocodile after falling into a creek. The man was fishing at a spot locals call “crocodile bend” when he slipped into the water and never resurfaced. Witnesses reported that he may have been “taken by a crocodile.”

Rangers captured and euthanized a 16-foot crocodile near the scene, later discovering human remains in its stomach. Police are working to formally identify the remains.

This isn’t the first deadly croc encounter in recent months. A 12-year-old girl was fatally attacked in July while swimming in Australia’s Northern Territory. While rare, crocodile attacks in the region are not unheard of. Earlier this year, a saltwater crocodile was killed and eaten by locals after it threatened a community in the same area.
