Apple announced Thursday that it will revise its App Store practices to comply with the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), following accusations of anti-competitive behavior. The European Commission claimed Apple’s policies unfairly restricted developers from directing users to alternative payment methods. Starting this autumn, Apple will allow EU developers to promote and link to offers outside their apps. However, a new fee structure will apply: developers must pay a 5% fee on digital goods and services sold through external platforms within a year of a user installing an app.
