Voting has begun in Emohua Local Government Area, Rivers State, for the ongoing Local Government Council elections. At Unit 3, 025, Ward 4 in NlMgbueto community, voting commenced at 8:30 a.m. after the arrival of electoral officers.
The process so far has been peaceful, with no police or security operatives present at the scene. Omenihu Jackson, the Councillorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), praised the calmness of the election process after casting his vote.
“The election has been peaceful. People are conducting themselves well, and the process is going on smoothly,” Jackson said.
Collins Amesi, a leader in the ward, also expressed confidence in the process, although he pointed out the absence of police as a concern for credibility. “You can see that the election is going on well without police. We commend RSIEC for conducting this peaceful process,” Amesi remarked.
As of press time, the election remained orderly, with residents continuing to cast their votes.
