The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has confirmed a helicopter crash involving eight individuals, with three bodies recovered so far. The helicopter, operated by East Winds Aviation, lost contact at 11:22 am on October 24, 2024, after taking off from Port Harcourt’s NAF Base en route to the FPSO NUIMS ANTAN.
Olufemi Soneye, NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, stated that search and rescue missions are ongoing. “We remain committed to supporting the rescue operation and will continue to provide updates,” he said. The company has reached out to relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Aviation.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the passengers, crew, and their families during this difficult time,” Soneye added.
