The Minister of Defence, Muhammad Abubakar Badaru, arrived in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Thursday with a directive for troops of Operation Fansar Yamma to capture notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.

Welcomed by Major General Oluyinka Olalekan, Commander of the Joint Taskforce Northwest, and Zamfara’s Deputy Governor, Mani Mumini, Badaru highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to ending insecurity in the region. He noted recent improvements in operations but acknowledged ongoing challenges.

“The President has been closely monitoring your efforts and wants you to intensify operations,” Badaru said, emphasizing the need to apprehend Turji. “Get me Turji,” he urged the troops.

Badaru’s visit follows a recent meeting between Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal, Katsina Governor Dikko Radda, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu in Abuja.
