Memphis-based International Paper (IP) announced a significant reshuffle of its executive leadership team set to take effect next month. The company has appointed Tim Nicholls as Executive Vice President of IP and President of DS Smith, the London-based packaging firm recently acquired by IP. In his new role, Nicholls will report directly to CEO Andy Silvernail.
With over 30 years of industry experience, Nicholls has held key finance and business leadership positions at IP. He served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from 2007 to 2011 and again since 2018, and from 2014 to 2018, he led IP’s packaging operations in North and South America after managing IP Europe as Vice President and CEO. Nicholls also spearheaded the integration planning for the merger with DS Smith and has been serving as the interim leader for the combined Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) business since the transaction closed in February.
“Tim is an exceptional leader with a passion for people and results,” Silvernail said. “I look forward to working with him in this new leadership role where he can continue to build a strong team that will drive excellence.”
In another key appointment, Lance Loeffler will join International Paper as Senior Vice President and CFO, reporting to Silvernail. Loeffler brings over 25 years of experience in finance, strategy, and business leadership, with a distinguished career at institutions such as UBS Investment Bank, Deutsche Bank Securities, and Halliburton—where he served as CFO and most recently as Senior VP for the Middle East and North Africa region.
“We are thrilled to have Lance join the IP team,” Silvernail said. “Lance is an effective and experienced CFO and public company leader with a proven track record of performance. He will be an incredible asset in supporting International Paper’s transformational journey as a leading producer of sustainable packaging solutions in North America and EMEA.”
These strategic appointments underscore IP’s commitment to bolstering its leadership and accelerating its growth in the global packaging market.
