The Labour Party of Nigeria has threatened to occupy all Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices across the country if its petition challenging the results of the 2023 presidential election is not heard.

The party has issued a three-day ultimatum to INEC to allow its lawyers and agents to inspect the Bimodal Voter Authentication System (BVAS) machines, alongside other electoral materials, or face the consequences of the Obidient movement.

Chief spokesman for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Tanko Yunusa, accused INEC of selectively obeying court orders and disobeying the court order empowering the LP to inspect BVAS.

According to Yunusa, INEC has already started configuring BVAS machines when the court asked it to allow the inspection of the BVAS by the Labour Party, potentially tampering with the already stored and contentious result of the presidential election.
