KPMG Nigeria, a leading professional services firm offering audit, tax, and advisory services, has appointed Yemi Kale, the former Nigerian Statistician General, as its partner and chief economist. The announcement was made by the company on its official Twitter page on Thursday.
As chief economist, Mr. Kale will oversee the company’s viewpoint on macroeconomics and broaden its economic modeling and macroeconomic analysis solutions for both public and private sector clients.
The statement further revealed that Mr. Kale has extensive experience in macroeconomic analysis, financial, economic and investment research, as well as fiscal and macroeconomic policy advisory gained from his time in both the public and private sectors.
Mr. Kale’s appointment comes after his ten-year tenure as Statistician General of the Federation/CEO of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) from 2011 to 2021. He previously served as a Special Adviser to the then-Minister of National Planning before assuming office.
He is an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government leadership in government programs and a member of several professional bodies, including the UK Royal Statistical Society, the Institute of Chartered Administrators and Researchers of Nigeria, the World Economics Federation, the Royal Economic Society, and the Nigerian Statistical Association.
Mr. Kale holds a B.Sc. Honours degree in Economics from Addis Ababa University, as well as an M.Sc. (distinction) and a Ph.D. in Economics from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
