The apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has distanced itself from a purported meeting with Governor Nysome Wike of Rivers State, Nigeria.
Ohanaeze explained that while it had been trying to arrange a meeting with Wike for the past two years, the Governor had rebuffed all their requests.
Last week, news emerged that some members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo met with Wike, but the group’s Secretary-General, Amb. Okey Emuchy, clarified that those who went to see Wike did so in their personal capacities and not as an Ohanaeze delegation.
Emuchy urged the public to disregard any information that emanated from the meeting as a personal voyage.
He also announced that the group had obtained a court order against certain individuals, including Okechukwu Isiguzoro, who have been parading themselves as a faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide called on Igbo people across Nigeria to remain law-abiding and participate in the upcoming elections on Saturday, March 18th
