Labour Party National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure has been purportedly suspended by the Edo Chapter of the party.

However, the party’s leadership has denounced the suspension, describing it as illegal and of no consequences. In a press conference, the party’s National Secretary, Mallam Farouk Umar, stated that the individuals who announced the suspension were unknown faces assembled in one room in Abuja, and were not members of the party’s executive in Edo state, local government, or ward.

Umar also stated that the party’s constitution is clear on who can suspend the National Chairman, and only the National Convention can do so.

He further claimed that the suspension was an afterthought of some opposition parties seeking to distract the party’s leadership.

The Labour Party’s leadership called on Nigerians to distance themselves from politicians who take pleasure in maligning political leaders, especially those who are afraid of the rising profile of Barrister Julius Abure.
