Former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, gave an unwavering assurance to the Senate that President Bola Tinubu’s nomination of him as a minister will be met with exceptional performance.

As the sole representative of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the ministerial list, Wike confidently conveyed this message during his screening session before the Senate on Monday.

Having served as Governor of Rivers State from May 2015 to May 2023, Wike highlighted his track record of initiating and successfully completing numerous projects.

He emphasized his dedication to the job and recalled how he invited politicians from various parties to commission these projects.

Wike stated, ‘Achieving these goals is possible when one is committed and passionate about the job. There are those who seek ministerial positions for mere prestige, but I am determined to offer tangible contributions.

The former governor expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the nomination and conveyed his belief in the President’s earnestness to address Nigeria’s challenges.

He promised full support if confirmed in any capacity and asserted that President Tinubu would not regret the decision to appoint him.

It is worth mentioning that Wike previously served as a minister during the administration of then President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio vouched for Wike’s competence and capacity to deliver, leading to a gesture of respect as he was asked to take a bow.
