In a groundbreaking display of unity and cooperation, 54 African nations, including Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, will participate in the 2nd Africa Military Games in Abuja, Nigeria, from November 5 to 18, 2024. The event, themed “Enhancing Military Cooperation in Africa Through Sport,” aims to strengthen camaraderie and cooperation among African countries and enhance security on the continent.
Despite ongoing tensions within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), military athletes from Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Guinea have expressed interest in participating in the games, which will feature 19 sporting events.
The event is expected to boost tourism, stimulate the economy, and spur infrastructure development in Nigeria. With 43 nations already submitting their preliminary agreements to participate, the games promise to be a resounding success.
