Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly gave its seal of approval yesterday to all the Commissioners and Special Adviser nominees put forth by the state Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for confirmation.

This decision came after the committee on Judiciary, Human Rights & Public Petitions presented its report during Tuesday’s plenary, and Mr. Aniefiok Attah, the committee’s chairman and representative of Nsit Atai State constituency, formally ratified the findings.

Attah, in his presentation on the House floor, affirmed that the screening of the nominees adhered to the relevant constitutional provisions.

He emphasized that the candidates displayed commendable integrity and fulfilled the constitutional prerequisites for their roles as Commissioners and Special Advisers.

Furthermore, Attah advised that when assigning portfolios to the nominees, their experiences and academic qualifications should be duly taken into account.

The Speaker of the House, Mr. Udeme Otong, conveyed his appreciation to the State Governor for nominating individuals who would significantly contribute to the administration’s development agenda.

As a refresher, Governor Umo Eno had, on Thursday, July 20, in accordance with the constitution, submitted 24 names for appointment as Commissioners and Special Advisers to the state House of Assembly for ratification.

Meanwhile, Akwa Ibom citizens, particularly keen observers of the current administration, have started debating whether the appointed Commissioners and Special Advisers will be reappointed to their previous positions.
