President Bola Tinubu is set to send the much-anticipated list of ministerial nominees to the Senate today for the crucial screening and confirmation process.

Among those expected to face screening are prominent figures such as Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State; Dele Alake, currently serving as the Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy; Adegboyega Oyetola, former governor of Osun State; Wale Edun; Nyesom Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State; Adebayo Adelabu, the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); and Beta Edu, who previously held the position of Commissioner for Health in Cross River State and served as the National Woman Leader of the APC.

Throughout the past few weeks, various rumored ministerial lists have been circulating, keeping Nigerians in suspense.

Sources reveal that the list includes a mix of former governors, technocrats, and professionals, signaling President Tinubu’s intention to form a government of national unity, possibly accommodating some leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Following President Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29, succeeding former President Muhammadu Buhari, he is obligated to form his cabinet within 60 days, adhering to constitutional provisions.

According to insiders, the President will submit a total of 43 names to the Senate today, with one nominee representing each state, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) — a total of 37 names. The list is also expected to feature candidates from each of the country’s geo-political zones.

Some of his Special Advisers, including Dele Alake and Wale Edun, are also likely to make the cut.

Regarding the potential ministers, it is speculated that Nasir El-Rufai, Senator Tokunbo Abiru from Lagos East senatorial district, and Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola from Osun State are among the expected nominees.

Additionally, legal expert Mr. Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, is in the running for the position of Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

All eyes are on President Tinubu as the nation eagerly awaits the official unveiling of the list, which is expected to happen today.
