The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 8 Anambra election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has vowed to prioritise security, economic transformation, and community development if elected.
Speaking during a visit to Ichida in Anaocha Local Government Area, Ukachukwu said his administration would hit the ground running from his first day in office to reposition the state.
“Insecurity remains the state’s biggest challenge and must be tackled head-on. No society thrives where there is insecurity. We must first secure lives and property before securing the economy. Anambra is known for manufacturing and trade, and we will encourage policies that support what our people do best,” he said.
Ukachukwu pledged inclusivity in governance, assuring community leaders, youth groups, women’s associations, and party supporters that all citizens would be given a sense of belonging in his administration.
He promised to harness Anambra’s gas reserves in Ayamelum and other areas to boost electricity supply, describing power as the backbone of economic growth. He also pledged to rehabilitate and dualise the road linking Nnewi South, Anaocha, and Njikoka through Ichida, with additional routes to ease movement and stimulate commerce.
On agriculture, Ukachukwu vowed to develop sustainable value chains to create jobs, strengthen food security, and reduce youth restiveness.
Earlier, the traditional ruler of Ichida, Igwe Charles Ezeudogu, described Ukachukwu as a “worthy son” of Anaocha and a “pillar of strength” for Anambra youths and families. He said the community had no difficulty in pledging its support.
Also speaking, the youth leader of Ichida, Chukwuemeka Ezenwaka, assured Ukachukwu of young people’s backing, citing his track record as an investor who delivers on promises.
“We will not be voting for party symbols; we will be voting for Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu,” Ezenwaka declared.
