The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dispelled speculations suggesting a deliberate trade-off of the governorship seat in Kano state to avert post-adjudication violence. Deputy National Organizing Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, emphasized that the Supreme Court’s decision last Friday was solely a matter of law, impartially determined by esteemed arbiters.

In an interview, Duru stated that while the party would have preferred to secure victory in the state, it respects and abides by the decisions of the courts. He highlighted the judiciary’s layered structure, from trial courts to the Court of Appeal and ultimately the Supreme Court, each providing a different perspective based on the facts presented.

Duru asserted that there was no political manipulation or arrangement in the court’s decision. He credited the judiciary for upholding the law and delivering justice impartially. The different interpretations at various judicial levels, according to him, demonstrated the wisdom behind the country’s adjudicational process.

Commending the judiciary’s independence, Duru noted that the ruling reinforced confidence in the impartiality of the legal system. He emphasized the significance of political actors reaching out to the electorate, advocating their ideas, and engaging in fair competition to win elections. The APC sees the court’s decision as a testament to the impartiality and independence of the judiciary, instilling confidence in the electoral process.
