In a recent development, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on security agencies in the country to conduct a thorough investigation into the attempted attack on the residence of former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The APC spokesperson, Felix Morka, issued a statement on Tuesday night, expressing concern over the PDP’s allegations and urging the authorities to take action.
According to Morka, the PDP has been indulging in what he described as a “vacuous and mindless campaign of calumny” since their defeat in the last Presidential Election.
The PDP had alleged that members of the Boko Haram terrorist group, who were apprehended by the Police in connection with the foiled plot, were sponsored by the APC.
The APC vehemently denies these claims and has asked the Police, State Security Services (SSS), and other relevant security agencies to thoroughly investigate the allegations and invite PDP’s leadership to provide evidence in support of their accusations.
The party insists that the PDP must not trivialize serious security matters for their political agenda.
Morka further criticized the PDP for engaging in what he called “egregious incivility” in their conduct and advised them to focus on the pending court case challenging the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, rather than spreading baseless accusations.
In the midst of defending their election mandate in court, the APC affirms its commitment to winning the trust of Nigerians through President Tinubu’s strategic programs aimed at improving the country’s socio-economic conditions.
The party asserts that all citizens, including Atiku Abubakar, deserve full protection under the law, and any threat to their safety and assets must be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators brought to justice.
