Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd), Chairman and Chief Executive of the NDLEA, wrote to the APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, this week, demanding that NDLEA officials be given access to conduct drug integrity testing for candidates seeking political office in the country.

Last week, Gen. Buba Marwa (retd) wrote to APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, requesting that personnel from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) be allowed access to conduct drug integrity testing for candidates seeking political office in the country.

When the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP and others have their party primaries, Marwa said he will write to their national chairman and request that NDLEA operatives be permitted to conduct drug integrity tests on politicians seeking higher office.

Despite the fact that the APC has not yet debated on the issue, a party official who did not want his name revealed in this article because he was not permitted to speak to the media labeled the NDLEA’s position as illegal.

“Marwa is a respected member of this party but on this matter, we believe he has not been briefed appropriately, because if he was properly briefed, he would have known the set of laws guiding political party operations and understood that he cannot make such requests. ”

I can hazard a guess that the letter is dead on arrival.

I don’t even expect the party hierarchy to start meeting on the issue”, he stated.
