The leadership of the Action People’s Party (APP) has condemned the devastating explosion that occurred at its Secretariat in Rivers State. The incident, which has been described as an attack on democracy, has raised concerns among party officials.

APP National Chairman, Uchenna Nnadi, expressed his worries about the incident during a visit to the site in Port Harcourt. He was accompanied by the State Chairman of the party, Sunny Wokekoro, and the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu, to assess the damage.

Nnadi stated, “It is really a sad day for democracy. The bombing of our secretariat in Port Harcourt is a heinous act. It is an act of terrorism and treason. We thank God Almighty who spared the lives of our members.”

The explosion occurred shortly after party members left the office following a strategic meeting late at night. Nnadi called on President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to bring those responsible to justice, suggesting that the attack was motivated by fear of the APP’s growing influence in the upcoming local government election.

Meanwhile, APP State Chairman, Sunny Wokekoro, assured supporters that the party remains undeterred by the threats. He noted that the APP in Rivers State has welcomed many former members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and is prepared for the upcoming local government elections.

The incident has further heightened tensions in the state as political parties prepare for the elections. Security agencies have been urged to intensify their efforts to ensure a peaceful and fair electoral process.
