The Arewa Progressives For Good Governance (APGG) has strongly disagreed with former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, over his alleged support for a nationwide protest against economic hardship. The group has refuted claims that prominent figures, including former and serving Senators and Arewa youth leaders, plan to join the protest against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Dalung had taken to social media to assert that “the rights of Nigerians to protest cannot be taken by executive fiat.” However, APGG, in a statement signed by Chairman Malam Ibrahim Musa Bichi, countered these claims, emphasizing that such participation was untrue.

“We understand the pains Nigerians are going through due to the current hardship caused by the withdrawal of the petroleum subsidy, but we can authoritatively say there will be light at the end of the dark tunnel,” the statement read. The group stressed that any Northerner calling for protests against Tinubu’s administration is being unfair, recalling that during the eight-year tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Northerners remained quiet despite challenges.

APGG also reminded Dalung that “he who must come to equity must come with clean hands,” alleging that the former Minister had attempted to contest an election after his tenure but failed to succeed.
