Niger Delta agitators, under the umbrella of the Amagbein Peace Movement, have thrown their weight behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the just-concluded elections.
The group has also advised the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr. Peter Obi, to follow in the footsteps of former President Goodluck Jonathan by congratulating the President-elect.
Represented by his trusted ally, Alhaji Harmony, Gen. Amagbein Adaka Boro, the founder of the group, led a march in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, where they expressed their support for the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the elections.
The group commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting one of the best elections in the country’s history of democracy.
According to Harmony, the victory of Asiwaju is the victory of all southerners who yearn for power shift.
The Nigerian people have spoken through the ballot, and the result is positive. As a law-abiding citizen and advocate of justice and equity, Harmony congratulated the President-elect and urged all youths and leaders of the Niger Delta to support and throw their weight behind him.
Harmony also advised the youths to desist from any form of violence and not to pay heed to those who may want to incite conflicts. He called on the President-elect to prioritize resolving the issues in the Niger Delta, stating that the people of the region need development, good healthcare, good roads, and an end to poverty. The Amagbein Peace Movement would resist any attempt to cause chaos and lawlessness as a result of Asiwaju’s victory.
