In a recent PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Bauchi State, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, expressed his determination to regain his mandate from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the judicial process.

Atiku, addressing party members and elected officials, criticized Tinubu’s government, labeling it as temporary and alleging that it was secured through electoral irregularities.

During the meeting, the PDP urged its members serving in the National Assembly not to merely act as “rubber stamp members,” but rather to assume the role of a strong opposition.

Atiku emphasized the importance of serving as a constructive opposition until the electoral challenges are resolved in court.

He acknowledged that, based on the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the PDP’s members-elect are not the majority in the National Assembly.

Nevertheless, he encouraged them to prepare for the possibility of assuming majority roles when the court cases are concluded, thereby becoming a “Government in-waiting.”

By pursuing legal avenues, Atiku Abubakar aims to reclaim what he believes to be his rightful mandate, as the electoral disputes play out in court.
