Ogun State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the attack, stating that around 9:20 pm, eight armed individuals dressed in black opened fire indiscriminately at the venue. Olowojobi was reportedly targeted and shot in the chest after he resisted attempts by the gunmen to abduct him.

The lecturer was rushed to Babcock University Teaching Hospital but was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival. The gunmen also abducted Dare, a car stand manager, and another person whose identity is currently unknown.

The police have detained a suspect, Awada Ishaya from Plateau State, who had been hired as a security guard at the event center just two weeks prior.
