Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has been chosen as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum.
The announcement was made during a retreat for elected PDP officials held at the Banquet Hall, Government House in Bauchi State on Saturday.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State was also elected as the Vice Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, the previous Chairman, attended the retreat and handed over the position to Mohammed.
During the retreat, acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum, emphasized the importance of unity within the party, especially as the opposition.
He urged party members to work together to maintain their relevance in the political landscape.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar expressed his concerns about President Bola Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidy without providing alternative solutions.
At the event, Abubakar highlighted the PDP’s past experience with subsidy removal, emphasizing the need for proper discussions and palliatives for those affected.
He called on Nigerians to appreciate what they have temporarily lost due to the sudden policy change.
